Georgetown University Rural Opportunity Initiative.
This week inventor Bill Brown will be pitching the TreePans business model to a group of venture capitalists, currently unfamiliar with Iowa investment opportunities. There will be 10-20 individual investors in attendance at this year’s ROI (rural opportunity initiative) to learn more about agriculture startups throughout the state and investment opportunities big and small.
Pitch competitions have become a fun and interesting way to gain awareness for your business or startup, ranging in size, teams, duration and awards. Our team is not shy to these competitions, not only have we had tremendous luck throughout the state of Iowa, but our team and its business model was founded on the University of Iowa Venture School and its business model canvas.
This competition and networking event is brought to Des Moines by Iowa State University and the USDA. ROI promotes private investment in rural businesses that drives both investor return and rural prosperity.
ROI’s work is focused around 3 pillars.
- Cultivating Knowledge, Dialogue, Investment Relationships and Private-Public Partnerships
- Facilitating Rural Workshops and Networking Forums and
- Capitalizing Rural Business Opportunities and Entrepreneurs

We are eager for the opportunity to show our fellow Iowans and others from outside of the state all the hard work we have been putting in since our last Des Moines pitch competition Invest in She!
If you are in the Des Moines area we would love for you to come see our team and many other impressive Iowa businesses as we pitch for the attention and potential investment from VC’s.
